Meet Julie Silverstein

Julie is a sought-after mentor and been-there-done-that experienced guide for start ups and their founders, as well as seasoned executives. Julie’s mash-up of start-up and enterprise experience gives her a unique perspective on the intersection of rapid and measured growth, individual accountability and performance management, investor value and playing the long game, driving the market and reaping the market.

When she was named President of SmithBucklin, the world’s largest professional services corporation for nonprofits and trade associations, Julie became the highest ranking female executive in the company’s history. Starting as a kid out of college, she went on to lead the company to reach its peak and unprecedented level of 98% client retention year over year.

Julie’s decades of experience in Nonprofit management fostered her passion for coaching Boards of Directors through successful CEO and executive on boarding transitions. After spending 22 years in every possible role in the nonprofit space, Julie challenged herself to succeed at something entirely new: partnering with ambitious, brainy, rule-shattering female entrepreneurs to help them launch, build and grow their tech start-ups.

Julie had to be adept at rapidly getting up-to-speed to pivot into leading start up operations. She uses the same process to rapidly assess a leader's particular challenges and goals, so that she can guide them to make inspired decisions and take action with confidence. Tenacious, whip-smart, and genuine, Julie does it all with a huge sense of humor.

Julie graduated with a BA from the University of Michigan. She is a sports enthusiast and former competitive rugby player – although the competitive part is not former. She volunteers for educational nonprofits, mentors up and coming high potential women in business, buys a lot of art from starving artists, and cooks a lot of great food for her friends.

Julie advises entrepreneurs as board member, advisory board member and active investor. Julie participates on the Investment Committee for Belle Capital, an angel fund focused on providing funds to female led start-ups in the technology space, and sits on the Eved Board of Directors. Julie is based in Chicago and works with clients nationwide.
